Connecting with “The Resistance” Against Inequity + Exploitation

About this ReSearch Topic | Stream 2 | #C3res2

| Starting on November 9th, 2016 the modern corporatocracy stepped into the open making itself arrogantly visible to all Americans.  The hubris is alarming. The lack of respect for people, life and authentic American values such as democracy and equality, simply shocking.

As author and resistance activist Naomi Klein notes in her book This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate, “Slavery wasn’t a crisis for British and American elites until abolitionism turned it into one. Racial discrimination wasn’t a crisis until the civil rights movement turned it into one. Sex discrimination wasn’t a crisis until feminism turned it into one. Apartheid wasn’t a crisis until the anti-apartheid movement turned it into one.” The newly emergent resistance movement will be making modern corporatocracy a crisis for the power elite.

In her book the “The Shock Doctrine” Klein foresaw the future we face in America today, in places like Iraq and Chili stating that “a more accurate term for a system that erases the boundaries between Big Government and Big Business is not liberal, conservative or capitalist, but corporatist. Its main characteristics are huge transfers of public wealth to private hands, often accompanied by exploding debt, an ever-widening chasm between the dazzling rich and the disposable poor, and an aggressive nationalism that justifies bottomless spending on security.”

What did we learn? We developed short definitions for the each of the (5) perspectives and tweeted them. We looked for a generic, academically appropriate meta-perspective that could hold all five and settled on Ecosocial.
  • High-Performing / Low-cost Bird Safe Glass Frits + Patterns
    Channel: #C3LDpp | People* + Products
August 29, 2016 (Use this date to locate the last Tweet for this ReSearch in the twitter stream)
We dived into the specifics of bird safe insulated glass units looking for effective frits + patterns that can provide bird safety.
What did we learn? The research on bird safety is nascent, but compelling and useful. Horizontal lines may be one of the more effective approaches. Uniform, dispersed patterns may be less effective. Try for a risk rating of 15 or less with 10 or below being preferred.
